I’m turning my life upside down and inside out! I’ve always been interested in animal welfare, and I recently decided I needed to wake up and pursue my passions. Over the last 5 months, I enrolled in an online graduate school program through Valparaiso University and the Institute for Humane Education, left my 7-year career with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, returned to the mainland after almost 6 years in Hawaii, and accepted a temporary, volunteer internship at Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah.
As an adult, I’ve moved around a lot and been through a lot of changes, but I’ve never quite piled on the change like I have in the last few months. So why not write a blog about it?! In the short-term, I will blog about my trip across the country and my internship at Best Friends. I will also blog about my experience as a humane education graduate student, the issues I’m learning about, and my transition to a new career. Of course, I’m also sure to blog about my boxer-pit bull mix, Slaw – he’s along for the ride and always entertaining!
You might not always agree with me, but maybe once in a while you’ll be inspired to turn your own life upside down – in a good way, I hope.
